I am using this for the Twinstar 900SP. I have my light on a timer and dimmer switch saves the setting when it turns off/on, but does not provide a ramp up/down.

Bought this for my 900EA which I strongly feel should’ve been included with the purchase of a $230 light but that’s not here nor there. This dimmer is much needed as I’m keeping it on level 2/7 (on a scale of 1 being the dimmest setting) while the light is furthest from the tank. My floating plants were all brown and barely alive with the Twinstar on that highest setting of brightness but now with it dimmed they are starting to look green again. This is for 3 types of floaters: Amazon frogbit, red root floaters and Salvinia Cucullata. And since I couldn’t find any info about this, the dimmer DOES keep the setting with an automatic timer. I use just a cheap timer from the hardware store. This dimmer is a real tank saver.

I would recommend, I bought this for my 900s for dimming, but I was a little excited about the possibility of a “Thunder” store kind of setting…. It’s just different speeds of strobing as far as I can see. Lots of dimming levels though.

It does the job, but the female connection towards the light doesn’t have enough friction when connected to hold the pieces together. Had to use electrical tape. Light is a 1200 SA. Eventually I’ll get something better that has a ramp and on/off function built in because that what this light really needs at this price point.

The dimmer came without instructions and just a little stick- on label over the buttons which is inaccurate. It isn’t clear what does what and the (what I’m guessing) is the on off button causes blinking and sometimes doesn’t work at all. It is confusing how to dim and avoid blinking.I’ve just taken the dimmer off and am not using it.

The light gets a little brighter each time you push the middle button. I would never use the top button as the strobe effect scares my fish. I don’t know what the bottom button does because it doesn’t do anything when I push it or hold it down. Maybe it’s broken??? I wished the dimmer would let me choose the color spectrum (which is does not). Overall, it’s better than pulling the plug each time to turn if on and off. I’m not using a timer.

No instructions, but i just plugged in both ends, pushed the “-“ sign to dim, and it worked! The next morning when the timer on the LED light fixture came on, the lights came on dimmed just as when they went off the evening before. It’s as simple as that, and that’s what I wanted it to do.
