I absolutely loved this light when I first got it. Now, not so much. It’s a really bright efficient light but I’m not sure if the one I received is defective because it keeps dimming as if a bulb has gone out. It goes from bright white light to really dim out of nowhere. Other than that it’s nice looking with my UNS 30C.

I purchased the 24″ Orion light for my planted tank. I received it and the acrylic legs don’t fit. The screws that go through the legs don’t even stick out far enough to be able to screw the nuts on. It also says the acrylic legs will fit on rimmed or rimless tanks but it doesn’t fit securely on a rimmed tank. Just barely sits on the lip so you can’t tighten it down with the acrylic screw. The light gets quite hot for an LED. The dimmer I ordered with the light does not fit the cord that is included. And the adjustable metal rods that come with the light to adjust the length are very loose fitting and can be removed completely from the light fixture so you have to be careful not to pull them out when setting the light up. The one pro I can see so far is it does seem bright and makes the tank look good. I’ve only had it for a day so far so I’ll have to see how well it actually functions. Based on the quality of then craftsmanship of the light I don’t think the high par values listed are accurate. But I don’t have a par meter so I’ll see how the plants grow and maybe update my review.

It’s hot to the touch after being run, but provides great lighting. Design defect would be two of the four bolts and nut caps dont screw on since the acrylic light stand is to thick for the nut to grab the screw threads. I’ve applied super glue so my light doesn’t fall into the tank when I’m maintenancing.

The switch is terrible, the light is good. I had to have an extra set of legs sent out by Buceplant as the legs are too thick for the length of thread to get a secure connection. However, when the light goes out whenever it feels like it, it isn’t much use. I managed to get the light semi working by taping the switch, but even then it goes out sometimes – like it did this afternoon. Fluval or Current would be a much better option.My suggestion, don’t buy it. Aqua Worx would not respond to emails and Buceplant didn’t offer much support – apparently they tried to get in touch but got no response either. This is not good customer service in my opinion. I will likely not buy from either company again.

I was hoping this light would be a decent stand in as the Twinstars were sold out. The light gets extremely warm, accelerating evaporation in the tank, and the metal arms that hold the light are not stainless steel, they’re some kind of chromed metal and, sitting above the bubbler, both arms flaked and began dramatically rusting within 3 months. I’m already replacing this light, really a waste of money.

Used Finnex on my first vivarium and decided to try something with some higher PAR values for my second tank. It’s been running about 2 weeks now and my plants are seeming to like it. Bromeliads are opening and coloring up nicely, orchids seem to be happier than in my old tank, and my terrestrial plants are doing alright. As others mention the light gets very hot to the touch. Also, the way the legs are constructed, I can’t secure the light down to my vivarium, but not really that big a deal. I like how high it sits on my tank because it distributes light more evenly. So far I’m quite pleased and would recommend this.

I am loving this light. The color of the light is like natural daylight, no strange hues. The brightness is amazing. It really shows off the beauty of my Betta fish and plants. This is a quality light, very sleek and modern looking. The footings are crystal clear and appears more like glass than plastic. Very happy with my purchase and delivery was very quick as well.

Extremely powerful light at a great price. I’d give it five stars, but it is hard to get an inline dimmer for (different size to Twinstar’s; out of stock at BP for quite a while now), and doesn’t come with any features, or even any instructions/documentation.

I bought this light to replace a cheap $25 aquarium light I purchased off of Amazon. As I’m getting further into the aquascaping hobby I felt a light upgrade was due even though I wasn’t unhappy with my cheap light. I think the light has a nice design aesthetic and seems to be well built. The light produces a strong and bright beam. That being said, I realized very quickly that the cheap Amazon light’s 24 hour timer with integrated sunrise/sunset feature and dimmer functions were things I couldn’t live without in the morning and evenings. I also needed to purchase an external power timer for my outlet to control the light on a schedule. For a light that costs as much as this one I’m surprised that it doesn’t have any of those features. I’ve already replaced the light with a Chihiros due to the bluetooth connectivity and app control that allows for total customization of the timer and beam. I’m going to put this light into storage and save it for a future tank that will be setup in a living space that I don’t use during morning and evenings where a 24 hour sunrise/sunset feature isn’t necessary..
