Purchased the 600C Ver. III. I have never had a TWINSTAR before it. TWINSTAR C III info:- Press and HOLD the dimmer button to bring the light to max brightness.- After loss of power, the light appears to retain the set dimness level. (can you imagine if it didn’t?)V3 Drawbacks: – The metallic blue plastic on the ends of the light and legs feels brittle & light. I felt I had to be careful when setting up the legs (the texture feels like eggshells). – The dimmer button has no indication of what level or % it is at. There may be 7 levels or something, but my light came with no instructions or paperwork. How should I know?- Version 2 has more lumens ( 2200 ) vs Version 3 ( 2056 ) for the 600C model. – The V2 probably has brighter or better LEDs than the V3. Other thoughts:- I did not expect the V3 to be so narrow or low. I would prefer the height of V2.- I would prefer the material quality & color of V2.- The lack of a TWINSTAR logo on V3 is a miss.- I think the bends, & the way the stand assembles for V3 is an improvement and preferred, just with plastic bits that are clear & more durable (think V2).- I prefer the silver/clear power cord of the V3.Haven’t set up my tank yet. This review came after watching a V2 v V3 comparison on YouTube.

This light is fantastic looking – very modern. I like the fact that you can dim at the push of a button. If I had to say one negative thing, it’s that it did not come with any instructions at all. I’m mechanically/tech challenged and had to go to YouTube to figure things out. No big deal. Planning to order plants soon – I’m in Maine, so it’s still a bit too cold. Looking forward to see how it does with them.

Yes it is on the pricier side of things especially considering that it is just a light. But coming from someone who for the past few years has used relatively cheap lights, this one is fantastic. This light can get extremely bright, and the built in dimmer is a great plus to it. The arms of the light are very well made, the whole structure feels sturdy, and setting this up to my timer is just a set it and forget it. Setting this light up to the same time as my old light was a grave mistake as this light has full spectrum and algae was off the charts! This light right here is the real deal.

Looks amazing and sleek, brings out colors in a way my old light did not. I can tell my plants are already happier. Unfortunately my glass top is not a standard size so the brackets are too large for the cover. Right now I’m working around the issue but I’ll have to order a different top or different brackets once I take some measurements. The light dosen’t have an inline dimmer or timer so I’d suggest getting one. Twinstar makes one but any will do the trick.

I like the look and feel of this light, and think it will work great for my planted aquarium. My only complaint is I wish the dimmer and on/off switch on the side of the light bar were more intuitive and didn’t require me to push the button up and down just to turn it on/off or increase/decrease the dimmer.It’s possible I’m doing it wrong, but I have been unable to find anything online that says how to do it, and the light itself didn’t come with any instructions.

The 600C has been great for my planted UNS 60L, and while I understand that it doesn’t have a built-in timer or app functionality, it doesn’t quite need them if you’re going for more of a low-tech setup and planting accordingly. Anubias, AR Mini, Bacopa, crypt parva, and dwarf hair grass have all thrived under this light at lower settings, and it’s helped bring out some color in my livestock, too. In short: if you have a nano and a little to spend, the 600C isn’t a bad investment!

Love my twinstar C200. 15 light levels lets me set the right brightness that doesn’t spook my betta. It took no more than 48 hours for me to see an immediate improvement in some plants like Anacharis Elodea. Also love the way the color profile brings everything in my nano tank to life. I’m operating this light on a Aqueon 2.5 and it sits just fine on the rim.
