Necessary dimmer for a high output lighting system. Great accessory for a quality light. It works great but I wish it had an auto feature where it would dim on its own a mimic sun rise and sun set. It has built in timers so that you don’t have to shut it off manually but it’s either instant brightness or instant off. I also can’t just keep the blue lights on to mimic moonlight.

Love my Twinstar 36″ light but found it was obnoxiously bright if I was doing any other activity in the same room. Love being able to turn off the light without having to unplug it, and the dimmer is incredibly convenient for times when I want to view the tank in lower light settings. Will get one of these for every Twinstar light I pick up.

I have a Twinstar LED 300C Line V.III light. 6/8/10 hr timers work perfectly. Dimmer function works as intended. But, if you use the Inline Dimmer instead of your light’s stock dimming, it will give an electrical hum whenever the light is on. You can hear it about 2ft away from it. I have tuned it out and don’t think about it anymore but it was annoying.If you leave the Inline Dimmer at max and use your light’s stock dimming, you wont get a hum, BUT you will have the light constantly flicker while it’s doing the 10min ramp-up/ramp-down at the beginning and end of your timer cycles.I have noticed that you can cause the flickering to happen manually if you adjust your light’s dimmer and inline dimmer at different values. I’m guessing this is just how electronics work of this nature and it’s sending PWM singles out of phase or something like that.I already have tinnitus so I guess $20 is fine cost for this level of engineering success. Wish there was a light timer as small as this without any sort of wifi/bluetooth/app nonsense that didn’t have the ramp-up/down so I could just use the light’s dimmer.tl;dr: It hums or it flickers if you don’t align dimming with the light’s stock dimmer.

Excellent timer. It’s a must for your aquarium. The sunrise / sunset feature is beautiful to watch in the morning. I do wish there was an option to change to 12 hours. I’m currently doing a dry start and the timer shuts off at 10 hours. Usually, plenty of time when the aquarium is up and running. Extremely easy to use. Plugs right in and you can adjust the brightness and timer. You won’t regret it!

While the dimmer does what it claims, if the power goes out, it has to be manually started at the right time. I’m not likely to buy Twinstar products in the future unless they include better controls in their lights.

This timer/dimmer works just like the one that comes stock with some Twinstar models. It is a huge improvement for a light that has no dimmer. I put it on a 600EA series III, and it works great!

Great dimmer. Simple, clean, and does what it’s supposed to. Unfortunately and as ironic as this sounds, it doesn’t work on my Twinstar 360EC which is the first generation of Twinstar lights. The description on the dimmer did say that it should work with ALL Twinstar lights, so there should be a disclaimer about that if it only works with certain models/years. So right now I don’t have an immediate use for this dimmer, but I can use it as a backup for when I do get another Twinstar light (newer?) or when my older dimmer dies out on me.
