I bought this kit not knowing the light alone comes with a metal mounting plate with adhesive. I have no use for the base but the light and stand are solid. One draw back was the usb power brick that came with it was faulty causing the light to blink.

This is a great light! You can adjust the light up to about 8″ above your tank/bowl. I chose this light because I wanted wood and plants to come out of the top of the water of my tank. This light fits perfectly with my Ultum Nature System 3 gallon nano tall tank. The plants I have on the wood feature above the water will have room to grow and not be too close to the light, while the plants near the substrate at the bottom of the tank will still be getting light, too. There was no instruction manual in the packaging – but by looking at the photos in the listing, it was very easy to put together. The small screw-on pieces were already attached to the structural pieces. All the components were very securely packaged. I am *very* happy with this simple, clean, high-end looking light. No matter where you put this, it’s really going to show off your tank. Highly recommend.

I have a few of these over terrariums and aquariums. They work well, look good, and have a small footprint. I’ll be using more of these as my collection of tanks grows.
